Is Georgia Power Down?

Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company and the state's major electric company, was founded in 1998. It serves a population of about 10 million people in all but four of Georgia's 159 counties. Its service area covers around 59,000 square miles, or over 90% of Georgia's geographical mass. The corporation, which is headquartered in downtown Atlanta, employs around 7,200 people across the state. Georgia Power was named one of Forbes magazine's "America's Best Employers" for the fourth year in a row in 2016. Fortune magazine named it one of "The World's Most Admired Companies" for the seventh consecutive year.
