What is the MoviePass Organization?

MoviePass is a monthly subscription service that allows customers to buy movie tickets at participating cinemas for a set price. Stacy Spikes and Hamet Watt launched the company in 2011, based on a concept that Spikes had back in 2007. In 2012, MoviePass began with a brief beta period before shutting down the service. The company re-branded its service as MoviePass in 2017. In 2018, the corporation was chastised for dramatic changes to its business strategy that led in high expenses for customers, including hefty price hikes and limits on the number of movies subscribers could see per month.
