Netflix is an American media services provider and also production company. Main headquarters are in Los Gatos, California. It was founded in 1997 by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings in Scotts Valley, California. The company primary business is subscription based streaming service. It offers online streaming of library films and television programs.
Netflix initial business included DVD sales and rental by mail. Later Hastings abandoned the sales a year after the company's focus on the initial DVD rental business. Netflix expanded business in 2010 when introduction of streaming media.
Netflix is the world's most popular Internet entertainment provider, with over 93 million subscribers in over 190 countries watching over 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries, and feature films. Members can watch as much as they like, on practically any Internet-connected screen, at any time and from anywhere. Members may watch without ads or commitments and can play, pause, and resume viewing at any time.
