Is PG&E Down?

PG&E distributes natural gas and electricity to 5.2 million households in the northern two-thirds of California, from Bakersfield almost to the Oregon border. The California Public Utilities Commission regulates PG&E. It is the largest subsidiary of PG&E Corporation, a holding company with a market capitalization of $13.93 billion (2012). It was formed by George H. Roe and Thomas Donahue, who were also involved in the establishment of other public utilities such as Southern California Edison and Union Electric (UE), which ultimately became part of Southern California Edison (SCE).
