What is the FX Networks Organization?

FX is an American basic cable and satellite television channel based in Los Angeles, California, and owned by 21st Century Fox through FX Networks, LLC. It debuted on June 1, 1994. Its predecessor, FXM (formerly known as Fox Movie Channel), debuted in 1994. It began airing pictures from the 20th Century Fox film collection as well as its sister studios (for example, MGM), but eventually began gaining rights to all studios' more recent films. As a result of this content shift, "FX" – which had previously stood for "Fox Extended" – was re-branded to reflect the network's transition away from classic films and toward modern films.
