Is Iridium Down?

Iridium is a satellite communication services provider based in the United States. Satellite phones, pagers, integrated transceivers, devices with Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) or "digital selective phone dialing" technology, GPS units, and terrestrial-based radios all use the company's mobile voice and data communications. Satellites from the corporation cover the whole globe, including the poles, oceans, and airways. The Iridium network consists of 66 active satellites in orbit out of 77 total operational satellites launched to date, rather than a single constellation of satellites orbiting the Earth. L-band communications are sent from one satellite to another in the Iridium network.
