Is The Social Security Administration (SSA) Down?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivor benefits. The term "Social Security" refers to both the Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) program in the United States and the Canada Pension Plan in Canada. Both OASDI and CPP are considered examples of social insurance because they provide monthly cash payments to people who meet eligibility requirements based on their contributions into these programs over time with special rules for those who have not been employed or had earnings outside either country - such as railroad or military employees serving overseas; nonresident aliens; self-employed persons; civil.
